WASECA SLEIGH & CUTTER FESTIVAL SNOW SCULPTING EVENT - SPONSORED BY VERIZON WIRELESS
Each team will have a block of snow approximately 8’ in diameter and 8’ high on the parking lot south of the Waseca County Court House. Each team’s block of snow will be chosen by lottery. Condition of the snow cannot be guaranteed. If there isn’t enough snow, the event will be cancelled.
RULES OF THE COMPETITION:
1.Each team is limited to 12 members – no age limit. Event is open to area participants, no ‘experts’. Each team is limited to 6 members sculpting at a time. Other members must stay out of the sculpting area. No assistance from others. LIMITED TO 6 TEAMS. 6 blocks of snow will be available, one per team
2. The final sculpture must fit within a 12’ circle – height is optional. (Sculpture must be finished on all sides)
3. No media other than snow, ice or water may be used. Competitors to use snow available on site only.
4. Toxic colorants not allowed. Coloring must be biodegradable.
5. Molded shapes are not allowed – must be freehand
6. Sculptors must provide their own tools at their own risk and liability. No power tools are permitted. DO NOT WORK ALONE – IT IS NOT SAFE! BE CAREFUL!
7. Banners/signs are limited to 3’ X 5’ for each sculpting

JUDGING:
The sculptures will be judged and winners determined based on the following criteria:
1. Creativity – originality of expression (50%)
2. Technique – Utilization of materials, excellence in execution and presentation (30%)
3. Message – Visual force of message (20%)
DATES & TIME:
Monday Feb 8 – build snow blocks and assign teams
Tuesday thru Friday Feb 9 – 12 – teams work at sculpting from 6am to 10pm.
Teams must finish by Friday night- Touch up sculptings only on Saturday morning
Saturday Feb 13 – judging at 11:00 AM

FIRST PLACE: $150.00
SECOND PLACE: $100.00
THIRD PLACE: $75.00
FOURTH PLACE: $50.00
Winning team will earn opportunity to compete at St. Paul Winter Carnival next year as a representative of the WASECA SLEIGH & CUTTER FESTIVAL.
